The older class brought in their own writing puzzles; each student picked another student's puzzle to write about this week.
In class we learned how to write science fiction. We learned that writing science fiction consists of two gears, a big one and a small one that turns the larger one. The big gear is the world that the author creates, it is full of stuff. The small gear is the characters which are full of emotions, the emotions keep things in the story moving. Today we worked on their new world, they included as much detail as possible and some even drew pictures. We talked about how their world needs to have a problem in which the characters can get involved in solving- there needs to be drama for a story to happen. Next week we will work on the characters and building the story.
The younger class traveled to space! Before we left Earth's atmosphere they had to answer a few questions:
1.Name one thing you would like to try doing in anti-gravity.
2. What do you think space will be like?
3. What kind of alien would you like to meet?
Then they climbed in a spaceship and took off into the blackness of space, at some point they met an alien. When they returned to earth they answered the following questions:
1. Describe your alien
2. How big was your alien?
3. What color was it?
4 What does it like to eat?
5. Can it talk?
6 What does it like to do for fun?
7. Is your alien friendly?
8. Draw a picture of your alien.
After they told us all about the alien they met they wrote down an adventure they had with their new friend. If they didn't finish the adventure in class it is homework.
