The older class was surprised when they walked into class today and found that the classroom had been transformed into an extremely tall tower with no way in or out and only one window. There were a few supplies in the tower which they could use to help them escape. Then they had to write a story about how they got into the tower, who put them there, and how they got out without killing themselves. The homework is to write their own solvable puzzle and then next week we will pass them around for someone else to write how they get out of the situation.
The younger writing class had a blast building forts; they worked well together and made some cool hideouts!
We got to spent the rest of class writing about our forts inside of them. The writing prompts were:
1. Write a story that starts in your fort and ends at the north pole.
2. Write a poem where every line starts with "inside my fort..."
3. Write directions how to find your fort.
There is no homework this week, but they can get extra credit for building a fort and doing their school work inside of it.
