Archaeologists and Inventors
We jumped into the future this week, the year was 3689 A.D. Then we studied
the remains of an ancient civilization dating from about 2000 A.D. We
aren't sure that they knew too much about writing, but they sure left a lot of
garbage behind for us to study how they must have lived. We studied many
objects and tried to figure out how they were used. Everyone came up with at
least three different ways each artifact could have been put to
use.
We then switched hats and became inventors. Everyone drew part of a
machine, then connected all the pieces together and everyone wrote about how
the machine changed their raw material into a finish product. It was
fun to see all the students imaginations take off, they came up with some very
creative products.
This week I introduced our last life skill lesson; let go and play. We
learned this lesson by playing a game called "I am a_______", we then
all had to act out what the person said he/she was. Next week we will review
all of the life skill lessons we have learned over the past month.
Also if your child has missed a week, or will miss a week, and you would
like to do a make-up lesson, I will be teaching at the community center at the Ella McClatchy Library (2112 22nd St, Sacramento, CA 95818) on
March 20, from 12:30-2:30.
