We started class off with some "Diamond Dancing", we each took turns leading the class with our fabulous dance moves; the lesson we learned from this is to look outward, let go and play, say yes and, be 100% present.
A great time was had by all in learning to write great comics today. We started by creating a crazy character as a class and talking about how this creature could have come to be, what it likes and dislikes, fears and loves. We even tired to give it a name, but the creature was too crazy to agree upon a name.
Then we talked about how to create their own character; keeping it simple is best with a comic. Every character needs a back story; every student went home with two pages of character development questions; if these weren't completed in class please have them finish it at home. Everyone drew their main character as well. They are ready to write the bulk of their comic at home this week. A comic is mostly pictures with brief text in each scene. The homework is to write a six scene comic, with an introduction, plot (problem), climax, wrap up, conclusion.
