MUSICAL CHAIRS

In both classes today we worked on replacing the word "very" with a more exact word. In writing you never want to use two words when one will do. Plus using the word very is just lazy. I gave them a list of words to use in place of "very _________". For example instead of using very tired use exhausted. The homework is to write 10 sentences using these dollarized words.

terrified, furious, atrocious, exquisite, immense, dazzling, accomplished, spotless, brilliant, freezing, conservative, squalid, parched, keen, quick, ferocious, superb, scalding, colossal, adored, immaculate, ancient, beautiful, silent, spacious, vulgar, solemn, tiny, idiotic, gaunt, feeble, soaked, villainous.

We also played a fun game of musical chairs. Each student started a story and then when the timer went off they had to stop, get up and walk in a circle to the music. When the music stopped they had to sit at new spot and work on the story they landed on for the allotted time. We ended up with some interesting and delightful stories.
