This weeks homework is to revise chapters 1-3. Make sure these chapters are complete and well written. We didn't learn any new Greek and Latin words this week, review what we have learned to be prepared for an intense game of Around the World.
True Colors- we passed around colored paint chips and students had to say what the color reminded them of and how it made them feel.
Monster in My Lunch Bag- we passed around 10 lunch bags with an ordinary object inside. The students couldn't look at the object, they had to describe it by only touching it.
These two lessons helped students understand that describing an object or a color is very important in painting a picture with our writing. For example, saying the sky is blue, doesn't give us much to imagine. But saying "the sky was the palest blue almost white, like stonewashed jeans", would paint a clearer picture for the reader.
