This was a fun week! Students brought in their Mad Libs to share with everyone, we spent about half of the class time shouting out parts of speech and laughing at the crazy stories that we came up with.
We also started a Guide to Homeschooling. We want to help families that aren't homeschooling see that the grass really is greener on our side of the fence. We folded a paper into 6 equal squares and titled each square with following:
Self Portrait- draw a picture of yourself doing your favorite activity
Autobiography- 5 to 6 bullet points with a sentence for each about your life
Thumbprint- A paragraph starting with "I hope to leave my mark on the world by..."; this paragraph should tell the reader how you plan on making a difference in this world.
Exploring Homeschooling- This square is a poem about your thoughts on what homeschooling has done for you and maybe for your whole family.
Manifesto- is a public declaration of the rules you live by or your purpose in life. These can be sayings like "Don't Be Mediocre!" or "Mistakes are Opportunities to Learn!" Make sure to include a few sayings that are important to you; this square can really show of your creative side.
This Week I Will- This is your chance to show the world what your "typical" week looks like. Tell them about hobbies, classes, reading time, etc.
The final copy should be done on colored paper (I handed them out in class). Have fun with this project, for every square that is done well (no spelling or grammar errors) you will earn a ticket.
