How To Write a Jon Scieszka Book

We continued learning about the author Jon Scieszka today. We read two of his books: Baloney, Henry P. and Squids will be Squids. The first story is a tall tale and the second is a compilation of fables. We talked about another one of his stories called "The Stinky Cheese Man" (I couldn't find this one at the library). This story is about what happens when the little old woman runs out of gingerbread and makes a little man out of cheese instead. The students then wrote a tall tale, fable or messed up fairy tale of their own. All the stories were full of imagination and some even had fun morals to them. They can write as many of these stories at home for a ticket each this week; they need to make sure that it is their best work though.
We played a new game with Greek and Latin, it seemed to be a hit. Next week we will play Around the World again, so make sure they study.
