Vindicated Villains

This week we are showing sympathy for the villains of well known fairy-tales. I started class by reading Jon Scieszka's book The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs; which is a story told from the wolf's perspective. We then talked about other fairy-tales and how the "villain" is always made out to be the bad guy, but the story is always told by the "hero". So we decided to switch things around and poke holes in the "hero's" story. Then everyone wrote their own switched up fairy-tale from the "villain's" point of view.
Instead of playing Around the World with Greek and Latin this week, we spread the flashcards out and the students combined Greek and Latin words to make up new words that we could use in our everyday speech. I think that J.K. Rowling would be impressed with some of the words that they came up with.
