Today we learned how to make up our own jokes and riddles. We learned that a homonym is a word with more than one meaning. Bat, ball, diamond and plate are all homonyms. Homophones (Greek for same and sound) on the other hand are words that are spelled differently and mean different things but sound the same. Hare and hair, bare and bear, dear and deer, meet and meat, are all homophones. Studying joke books helped us prepare our comedic lines. For every three jokes that a scholar wrote or will write this week they can earn a ticket; as long as it is their own work and it makes sense.
We are up to 100 words in Greek and Latin. We will stay here until after the Holidays; that gives everyone time to really know the words. Study hard! It pays off with our games.
