Today both classes worked on writing comics. First we worked as a class to come up with a hero, his sidekick and a villain. Then we flushed out the characters by providing a backstory for each of them. I was amazed at how excited everyone was to give their input; we came up with some interesting characters.
The homework is to write their own, six strip, comic. In class we worked on drawing the characters and the backstories, but if they didn't finish it is also homework. This should be fun, not stressful. If comics aren't enjoyable for your child they can write a story using the same characters they created in class.
We also worked on dollarizing the word "get". From now on they must choose a more exact word instead of "get".
