Welcome to a New Year of Creative Writing

Welcome to Creative Writing at Love of Learning!
I'm teaching two classes this year, an older class and a younger class. I will list what we have done in each class on this blog weekly. The past two weeks I have spent time playing games and getting to know my students. This has helped me know what to work on this year.

The first week we played charades in groups of two. The two teams had to work together to help the other team figure out the word. This game broke the ice rather quickly and helped anyone that is a bit timid to jump in and play. After that we played games that told stories.

This week we played a revised game of Scattergories. This game helps the students to think quickly, not worry about putting pen to paper or spelling.
We are also working on a "Get to Know Me" poster. The older class has this as homework, the younger class is working on it in class.
There are six sections to fill out:

  1. Portrait of me- draw yourself doing something you love
  2. Autobiography- give a few bullet points about your life
  3. Thumbprint- what mark do you hope to leave on the world?
  4. Exploring Homeschool- fill this out as if you had to sell homeschooling to someone
  5. Manifesto- state the rules or motives that you live by (example: Don't be Mediocre)
  6. This week I will- what are your goals for the week?
Have fun and be creative with these posters. I look forward to seeing what you come up with next week.
