Disruptus was a hit! It's a game that I bought this summer at the world's largest bookstore in Portland. When I saw it I knew it would be a great way to get my creative writing classes thinking outside the box. We played it in both classes and it may be on your child's Christmas wish list, here is a link just incase you want more information: (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BCE2DNA/?tag=googhydr-20&hvadid=32590805838&hvpos=1t1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6215592549175895599&hvpone=20.44&hvptwo=18&hvqmt=e&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_3a2zxnq9pu_e)
In the older class we played 5 rounds. Then they had to take their 5 new inventions and write a story. The plot of the story is that they are a failed inventor who has invented 4 worthless objects, but this fifth invention is going to be the one that makes him/her a millionaire. This story should be anything but boring, keep it entertaining!
The younger class played Disruptus the whole hour. They came up with some amazing ideas; have them share some of them with the family at dinner. Their homework is to go into detail about one of their inventions: how it works, what it does, why it's needed, how much it will cost to buy, how it can change the world, etc.
