I'm so impressed with how well everyone is doing with their novels; chapter one is very impressive.
This week students will be working on chapter two. This chapter needs to include: (if it hasn't already been mentioned in chapter one) a description of the land, how the hero is getting around and with whom. The hero needs to run into their second obstacle.
In class we had a fun lesson with music. We learned how music sets a mood. First we listened to soundtracks from movies; most of the students recognized the movie in the first few bars. Next we listened to other songs and wrote or drew a picture of how that song made us feel. Lastly we wrote a story that went along with the ever changing musical selections. The stories had to change as the music changed, which led to some fun and interesting plots.
From this lesson we learned that as writers we can listen to music to help us get in the mood to write different parts of our story. We also need to be aware of what type of music we are listening to, as it really does affect our mood.
