We started off class today playing some games that help build unity; the games were "I'm a Tree" and "What are You Doing?" I recommend asking your scholar about the games and playing them as a family. They build on the principal of saying "yes and", we welcome someones idea and then add our own to it.
Today we started our own CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE novel. We built a character that was very similar to ourselves, then placed them in a time period and a location. We brainstormed plots that would get our character moving by having conflicts and problems, because they make new and exciting things happen.
I gave each student a "Plot Worksheet" to help them lay out their story. There are many twists and turns that the story takes depending on which choice the reader makes, so we had to write all sorts of problems and solutions. The story will have several different endings. To encourage the students to work on their notes at home I have offered a ticket for every ending they come up with. We will take the notes they work on during the week and write the stories next week in class.
This was a complicated lesson, please let me know if you have any questions.
